The boy suffers from a rare genetic disease, epidermodysplasia verruciformis, for which his hands are covered with growths, similar to the bark of a tree.
The pain is unbearable. After a first operation that took place in 2016 in Dhaka, the disease seemed controlled, but in the following months the problem recurred, so much so that in total the boy suffered 25 surgeries.

«I can no longer sleep at night», the 28-year-old explained to Afp. His mother Amina Bibi understands her son's situation: “At least he'll be pain-free. It's hell". The request has sparked debate among surgeons at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where Abul Bajandar is being treated for free. A committee was created to discuss the case and choose the most suitable solution.
