Attempt to kill a homeless man with a fire extinguisher, investigated a vigilante…

Alessio Rizzuti last 2 April hit the homeless Alfonso Russo with a fire extinguisher because he was annoyed by his presence at the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome.

The vigilante of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome Alessio Rizzuti was framed by the videos of the security cameras and was identified as guilty of assaulting a homeless man, Alfonso Russo, which took place in April. According to the reconstructions, Rizzuti was annoyed by the presence of the homeless man and so he tried to kill him with a fire extinguisher shot in the head.
The agents of the University Commissioner, directed by Fiorella Bosco, at the end of an intense investigation, they executed an order of custody in prison against the 40-year-old: they ascertained that even before 2 April, day of the attack with the fire extinguisher, he had targeted the homeless by beating him. In January he had even hit him with a telescopic baton. Russo often found shelter in the basement of the Otolaryngology ward of the hospital.

Last 2 April has sprung the aggression: just before midnight the vigilante, perhaps annoyed by the umpteenth presence of man, he went to the basement, he grabbed a fire extinguisher and hit the homeless man while he slept, causing him a multi-fragmentary fracture of the skull which caused his hospitalization in a reserved prognosis. The victim, now out of danger, he managed to get to the hospital emergency room despite the deep wound. It was the 51 year old, which often orbits in the Termini area and the Policlinico, who would have told of other previous assaults. To unleash them, according to investigators, perhaps non-condescending attitudes when the vigilante told him to get away. There would also be threats like: “If you don't go I'll kill you”.

From the reconstruction of the investigators – thanks also to the help of cameras – the involvement of the vigilante who was not new to such actions. As a precaution the police withdrew to the security guard, which has more than 15 years of service, the weapons he legitimately held. Despite the arrest, investigations are going on to ascertain if there are other homeless people who have been victims of aggression
