Two little cousins of 11 e 12 years sitting on the doorstep they were hit by a pirate car launched at insane speed in the center of Vittoria (Ragusa). One died instantly and the other was hospitalized in very serious conditions. The scene that presented itself to the rescuers was gruesome: the SUV has severed the lower limbs of the children. At the wheel was a 34-year-old, Rosario Greco, tested positive for drugs and alcohol: he has been arrested.
The driver of the car, who immediately after the accident had fled on foot, he was driving a Jeep Renegade. He would have lost control of the car during a risky overtaking maneuver in a narrow street in the center. After the escape, the agents identified him and took him to the police station: was arrested for aggravated road murder. The tests carried out by the ASP have ascertained the presence of an alcohol level four times higher than the legal limits.
The Flying Squad also challenges him with the possession of offending objects: in the SUV there was a telescopic truncheon and a baseball bat. The passengers who were with him, and who, like the driver, fled on foot after the accident, they voluntarily presented themselves at the police station explaining that they had fled for fear of being attacked. They were reported for wrongful death.
A witness who witnessed the incident said in shock: “A chilling scene presented itself to our eyes because the two children were literally mowed down and their legs severed by the car”. The injured child was transferred by helicopter to the pediatric resuscitation ward of Messina after being subjected to a delicate surgery in the night and his condition remains very serious. The car cut off both of his legs.
